Dr. Makaya Roma D.C.
began her practice of Chiropractic and rehabilitative therapies, as well as her Yoga instruction in 1988. Makaya is the founder and director of this center. The primary intention of her healing work, as well as her yoga instruction, is to assist individuals on their path to a higher level of health and well being. Each of her yoga classes is unique and has a theme or focus. The pace is gentle and rhythmic, connecting breath with movement. She encourages students to honour their own needs. To insure that her students are able to find that place of comfort and balance in each pose. She provides alternatives and or modifications. Makaya is available for private yoga therapy and chiropractic bodywork sessions.
has long believed in the connection of the mind, body, and spirit. She has a B.S. in physiological psychology and is a graduate of the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco. Encouraging precision of alignment and mindfulness, she helps students harmonize inner and outer planes, leading towards grounded lightness. Ruth believes that the practice of yoga increases our self awareness and generates love and peace from within.
Joan Donato L.C.S.W.
has almost 40 years experience as a student of yoga. She has been teaching yoga since 1994. Joan teaches in a relaxed manner with emphasis on the breath and breathing the movement. Joan believes that movement is life as breath is life and that yoga gets you moving and breathing. She believes that the practice of yoga cultivates self-love and healing.
came to her first yoga class after other methods to release physical pain failed and has found yoga to be much more than a release of physical pain. She began practicing yoga 18 years ago beginning with vinyasa-style classes. After moving to the Santa Cruz Mountains in 2005, she began practicing hatha yoga. In 2011, she completed a nine-month teacher training program with teacher and mentor, Joyce Anue. In 2013, she completed an 18-month advance studies program focusing on shadow yoga which is steeped in the systems of traditional hatha yoga, dance and martial arts. Inga's method of teaching is informed by her trainings and experience. She primarily teaches hatha and restorative classes.
first recognized the benefits of yoga for overall health on a physical, mental, and spiritual level in 2001, when a friend recommended a local yoga class in lieu of a weekend surfing session. The flowing, peaceful class immediately resonated with him and inspired a journey that continues to this day. In 2007, he completed his 200 Hour Teacher Training through Cloud Nine Yoga School. After that, he taught weekly classes in the Los Angeles area and then in Budapest, Hungary where he lived for three years. Upon returning to California, he completed the Yoga Shakti 300 Hour Advanced Study Teacher Training Program. Steve continues to share his love of yoga and encourages students to deepen their practice through conscious explorations on and off the mat.
Kamala Sharre Young
has been practicing and studying yoga since 1986, teaching since 1998, and has been a massage therapist / energy worker since 1988. Her yoga study began in the Iyengar tradition; later she traveled to India where she was certified in the Ashtanga Vinyasa approach by the founder's nephew (Vishwanath). From 2006-2010 she studied Shadow Yoga with its founder Zhander Remete. She has been a devoted student and practitioner of Buddhist and Hindu inspired meditation practices since 1997. Her current offering is a fusion of classical Indian yoga and Chinese Daoist qigong. Practice works to remove blocks and stagnant energy from the body. It infuses the system with fresh energy while balancing strength with flexibility and is both energizing and restorative to mind and body. Practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the stress response while supporting psychic / spiritual integration and meditative.
is a certified yoga instructor and massage therapist. Her classes include gently flowing and comfortable sustaining postures with an emphasis on alignment and breathing awareness. Linda works with students of different ages and abilities and encourages her students to access their own inner guidance and natural wisdom.
